An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a vital role supporting our Transforming Boroondara Program.About the roleReporting to the Coordinator - Drainage Maintenance and Cleansing, this important role includes managing relationships with residents and business owners where drainage problems have occurred and applying your technical skills to resolve such problems.As directed by the Coordinator, you will receive requests and, working with a colleague, undertake drainage maintenance and inspections (with or without the use of CCTV equipment), determine issues, and the origins of the problems.Key responsibilities of the role include:Using your sound analysis and judgment skills, you will either repair and complete the works on site, or identify further work required by other internal council teams or external contractors.The types of repair required will vary and this will involve fully and accurately documenting the extent of the work required.An important part of this role is having quality customer relationship skills.You will be asking residents and business owners to make their property available for inspection to assist in drainage analysis and repair.About youTo be successful in this role:You use technology and are comfortable with it, including iPads, phones, operating tractor cameras, operating the drain cleaning truck known as Combo, and recording accurate actions on asset management software systems such as Conquest.You will use your OHS skills to ensure all sites are secure from hazards and are made safe.Your OHS understanding of outdoor work and its requirements includes traffic management, Job Safety Analysis, and following set guidelines in the Safe Work Methods when executing each task.As an experienced plumber/labourer, you take pride in your work and are responsible for maintaining tools and equipment, so they are ready to be used at all times.This role requires all team members to be available on an On-call Roster to work when there are severe weather events that cause drainage disruptions.An On-call Allowance is paid only when you are rostered on.Our ideal candidate has:Prior council or construction industry experience.Proven experience undertaking maintenance repairs, pit and pipe repairs, and basic concreting skills.Basic mechanical skills or relevant trade certificates.Plumbing maintenance and/or stormwater drainage experience.Demonstrated experience in the use of mechanical plant.We will consider candidates who have:Minimal years labouring experience.Worked in other maintenance roles.A high aptitude for learning and following processes (we will provide on-the-job training if required).Truck LicenceAs a minimum requirement, you will need to have a current Victorian Medium Rigid Licence at the time of applying.However, it is preferred that you have a current Victorian Heavy Rigid Licence.If you do not have these licences, you must demonstrate not only willingness but aptitude for learning a new driving skill.It is in your nature to be a productive team member; you will join a small and already cohesive team and enjoy a paid Rostered Day Off every 2 weeks (after working a 9 day compressed fortnight). This is outdoor field and hands-on work; you will be on the tools.
