As the Compliance and Assurance Manager at Victoria Racing Club, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the organisation maintains the highest standards of compliance, risk management, and internal controls. This full-time position is based in Flemington and is integral to the strategic objectives of the Racing Club.Key AccountabilitiesMaintain an up-to-date register of compliance obligations and operational risks.Monitor legislative and regulatory changes; assess impacts and support compliance integration with business owners.Provide input to legal on regulatory changes requiring advocacy.Develop and review risk appetite statements aligned with key stakeholders.Assign and clarify accountability for obligations across leaders and executives.Educate leaders to ensure awareness and compliance with obligations.Collaborate with operational teams to ensure effective, scalable, and well-documented controls.Evaluate control effectiveness and support continuous improvement of the control environment.Design and implement an assurance framework with control testing and quality procedures.Report assurance outcomes to leadership and maintain control testing schedules.Lead audit readiness assessments and remediation programs.Develop and implement incident and crisis management procedures.Guide executive response to compliance breaches or material incidents.Collaborate with legal on regulatory and stakeholder engagement during incidents.Maintain a register of key strategic risks and monitor mitigation progress.Establish a consistent compliance and risk reporting framework.Prepare and present reports to the Board, ARMC, and Executive Leadership Team.Support Head of Legal, Risk & Governance with regulatory matters.Coordinate insurance renewals, claims, and disclosures with brokers and insurers.Experience and ExpertiseTertiary qualifications in a relevant field (e.g., law, accounting, business, or compliance)Significant experience (8+ years) in a compliance, risk, or assurance role, preferably within the sports or entertainment industry, or similar.Comprehensive understanding of compliance frameworks, internal controls, and risk management principlesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate compliance risksExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex information into actionable insightsDemonstrated experience in leading and developing high-performing teamsProven track record of delivering compliance and assurance initiatives that drive continuous improvementWhats in it for you?Work in a great teamBe a part of our iconic racing club and The Race that Stops the NationJoin a company that wants to develop your careerHealth and Wellbeing programs including EAPOnsite parkingAnnual Staff Membership with discountsWork in beautiful surroundings at Flemington racecourse!How to ApplyIf you are passionate about compliance, enjoy working in a dynamic and prestigious environment, and are ready to make a meaningful impact, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
