The section establishes, leads and coordinates governance and compliance activities that support and enable the Commission to perform its role as a national regulator and operate as an accountable and transparent organisation that delivers on its strategic objectives. This is achieved through effective implementation, regular review and reporting against the Commissions Enterprise Governance and Accountability Framework.The function is responsible for delivering high-quality support and strategic advice to the Commissions executive and business areas on better-practice governance, including delivery of broad-ranging professional secretariat services within a tiered committee structure, capability uplift and facilitating effective oversight and decision-making. The function also manages corporate compliance oversight and reporting to support effective monitoring of the Commissions compliance with legislative frameworks and obligations. The team are responsive, trusted and reliable partners who provide valued advice and support to staff at all levels.About the RoleThe Senior Governance and Corporate Compliance Officer contributes to effective governance within the Commission by providing professional secretariat services, executive forum coordination, and supporting corporate compliance reporting. In addition, you will support in the development, implementation and review of frameworks, policies, delegations, accountable authority instructions, processes, tools and resources.Position DutiesDevelop and maintain an understanding of the Commissions governance arrangements, strategic priorities and the interests of key stakeholders.Provide secretariat services and guidance on use of the secretariat toolkit.Maintain existing governance systems and practices and identify continuous improvement opportunities.Coordinate executive forums, including managing forward agendas, distributing meeting materials and liaising with executive participants.Investigate, research and analyse available data from diverse sources to examine better-practice governance and compliance approaches.Evaluate and provide feedback to support review and refinement of the Commissions governance arrangements.Maintain oversight of project plan activities and deadlines and provide updates to Director on any potential risks to the proposed implementation timeframes.Coordinate, draft and review briefs, policies and other technical documents and provide constructive feedback to support high-quality information that is fit-for-purpose for intended audiences.Other duties, as required.Position Eligibility Requirements (Selection Criteria)To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:Ability to effectively prioritise requests while maintaining high standards and accuracy.Sound research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication (verbal and written) and relationship building skills.Understand and actively demonstrate the APS Code of Conduct and Values.Demonstrated experience in professional secretariat or governance roles.Microsoft Power BI and Excel proficiency, including use of functions and formulas. (Desirable)Position NotesSalary offered will be between $96,503 - $108,869 per annum depending on skills and experience.
