OverviewThe Tail Stretcher is responsible for repetitive moving of aluminum extrusions into stretcher jaws. We have both day and night shift positions for this role. 7am-7pm; 3 days on/4 days off, 4 days on/3 days off and 7pm-7am; 3 days on/4 days off, and 4 days on/3 days off.ResponsibilitiesUsing metal shear pruners even up lengths of metal making all extrusions the same length as instructed by foreman or Lead Person.Move the stretcher to appropriate length, insert the extrusion into the clamp and make sure it is secure before signaling the Head Stretcher to commence stretching operation. Use blocks and gauges when required.In conjunction with Head Stretcher, move the extrusions, up to 120 feet, across the walking table to the stretching workstation. Handle metal carefully minimizing scratches and dents.Inform Head Stretcher or Foreman/Lead Person immediately if extrusions are still twisted or snaked after the stretch or if you observe any other problems.Assist saw crews to maintain production.Regularly check all equipment, making sure it is in safe working condition. Report all potential problems or defects to Shift Foremen or Lead Person immediately.Maintain a neat and orderly work area and assist with the general housekeeping of the Press Department.
