Planning Assessment Officer State Government ContractLocation: East Perth, WARate: $50-$55 per hour + superHours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)Duration: 6-month contract (temporary, casual loading included, no leave entitlements)Join a Leading State Government Team in a Key Planning Role!Are you a detail-oriented professional with a keen interest in planning, transport, or engineering? This 6-month contract offers the opportunity to contribute to critical assessments and reviews within a State Government agency.The Planning Assessment Officer position requires the ability to interpret and apply planning legislation and standards; whilst not essential, a degree or experience in Urban Planning is desirable. This position is responsible for providing specialist technical advice and guidance on a range of transport planning issues, the assessment and review of planning referrals for development and subdivision applications, structure plans, planning schemes, amendment proposals and responses to general planning inquiries. You will play a key role in processing applications and referrals while liaising with various stakeholders, including local governments and industry bodies.The successful candidates will possess the following attributes:Well-developed written and oral communication skills.Ability to negotiate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.Ability to work and thrive in a diverse team environment.A background in interpreting and applying legislation, policies, procedures, standards specific to transport planning.Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.Desirable Qualifications:Diploma (or progress toward) in Engineering, Planning, or a related discipline.Previous experience working in the public sector.You will be a career-driven individual seeking to extend your experience in the planning industry. With a background in maintaining planning information systems, data, standards and guidelines, you will have demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders to provide support on formal forums and assist the community with planning inquiries and issues.
