People with new perspectives, energy and passion to drive Viva Energy and their careers forward.We now have a great opportunity at our Weipa Terminal on the Cape York Peninsula, Queensland for a Shift Operator to join our established team.This role operates within a rotating shift 7 days on / 7 days off, supporting the transfer of fuel into the terminal, day/night/all weather and including public holidays.Whilst locally Weipa based applicants are encouraged, we will consider the provision of FIFO, ideally for Cairns based applications.Job DescriptionReporting to the Site Operations Coordinator on a full-time basis this role would suit someone that wants to stay active and has an interest in the petroleum industry.Full on the job training will be provided.A day in the life of a Terminal Operator:Manage fuel receipts from ships into the terminal.Conduct routine inspections of site equipment to ensure optimal performance.Operate and monitor process equipment such as tanks, pipelines, pumps, truck loading equipment, instrumentation and control systems.Perform routine fuel quality control checks and testing.Support truck drivers with loading gantry activities including inductions, operating loading equipment, and solving any problems that arise.Communicate effectively with team members to plan the weeks activities and ensure they are completed safely and efficiently.Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and emergency response drills.Complete daily administrative tasks such as stock recording.Issue safe work permits to contractors to ensure maintenance work is conducted safely.On the job training will be provided to gradually build your skills and develop competence over time. Full competence is typically achieved after two years however your competence will be verified on individual tasks as each skill is obtained.QualificationsIdeally are trade qualified (mechanical, electrical etc).Eligible to hold a Maritime Security Identification card (MSIC).Enthusiasm and commitment to learning and development.Strong communication skills with a positive outlook.Ability to solve problems.Desire to work with and contribute to a high performing team.Reliable and trustworthy.Strong commitment to HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environment) and a desire to continuously improve in these areas.Ability to hold a forklift licence (training will be provided).A current Drivers licence.Please note that pre-employment medical and health assessment is a requirement of the selection process.
