The senior engineering Geologist will be part of the current DJV (Design Joint Venture) REDST (Resident Engineer Design Site Team) noting that the bulk of design is completed. The candidate will be based full-time in the Snowy 2.0 project sites/Cooma office during the execution phase of the Snowy 2.0 hydro project (NSW, Australia) and will be involved in the day-to-day REDST team activities and tasks with regard to surface and sub-surface ground investigation, excavation, tunnel face and shaft geological assessments and support of the D&B and TBM tunnels/adits, tunnel portals, shafts, caverns, intake portals and other project components. The senior engineering geologist will assist to lead and mentor the Lombardi junior geologists.Job DescriptionPrepare or review geology reports, geological sections, etc. for design purposes.Liaise with Lombardi design team and the client (employer) safety officers, tunnel inspectors, security guards, section engineers, and surveyors to ensure the safety of DJV staff/DJV geologists during field works and geological mapping.Attend regular internal/external meetings as requested by the Lombardi Engineering management, Lead Resident Design Engineer, Project Manager, or Project Director.Oversee and conduct tunnels/shafts/cavern/access adits and portals geological mapping; assess ground conditions and behaviors in response to surface and underground excavations in accordance with relevant technical specifications and drawings.Conduct geology record-keeping for surface and underground excavation and support works.Review geological mapping, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring documents, geotechnical testing results, and other relevant documents as specified in the relevant specifications and drawings.Advise on tunnel/cut slope excavation and support methods, rock/soil support, fissure/consolidation/backfill/cavity grouting, probe drilling, overbreak treatment, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, and lab/in-situ testing in accordance with project technical specifications and drawings.Conduct geological/geotechnical investigation and data interpretation related to Drill & Blast (D&B) and TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) excavations, shafts, caverns, cut slopes, and tunnel portals.Review and approve as-built geological drawings for D&B/TBM tunnels, gate shafts, caverns, tunnels, access adits, and tunnel portals.Review, advise, and oversee surface and sub-surface ground investigation results/works, including borehole drilling and sampling, logging, and geology data interpretation.Provide responses to RFIs (Requests for Information) submitted by FGJV and/or the Owner regarding clarification on geology and geotechnical information.Prepare and review 2D/3D geological models using relevant common software packages.Liaise with the Lead DJV REDST and DJV/Lombardi geologist/geotechnical specialists regarding project technical specifications, design verifications, and other technical-related matters.Perform other tasks and responsibilities related to geology/geotechnics as assigned by the LEAD Resident Engineer.RequirementsAt least ten (10) years of industry experience in ground investigation, D&B/TBM tunnel excavation and support, caverns, shafts, adits, and surface excavation and support.A degree in Engineering Geology or equivalent, preferably with professional registration status.Familiarity with tunneling observational methods, e.g., Drill and Blast, NATM, as well as TBM tunneling concerning geological/geotechnical assessment during excavation and instrumentation and monitoring systems and data interpretation.Familiarity with advanced tunnel/underground geological software and systems, i.e., Leapfrog, gINT, Shape Matrix, Dips, Swedge/Unwedge, etc.A valid driving license.ContactReetu JoshiApply nowAre you interested and qualified for this position?
