Medical Laboratory Technician - MicrobiologyEmployment Type: Permanent Full TimePosition Classification: Technical Officer Grade 1/2Remuneration: $60,223.98 - $88,284.57 per annum plus superannuationHours Per Week: 38Requisition ID: REQ408224Location: ConcordApplications Close: 5 July 2023 - 11:59pmAbout the opportunityNSW Health Pathology Concord Hospital Microbiology is seeking a full time permanent Medical Laboratory Technician to work in a very busy Microbiology laboratory performing routine diagnostic Microbiology: Specialty Microbiology (Parasitology, Mycology, Mycobacteriology, Molecular (including COVID-19 testing).The laboratory has international and national Antibiotic unit commitments. The position is required to participate on after hours rotational roster. Routine hours 8:30am - 5:00pm. Morning shift 6:00am - 2:30pm, Evening shift 2:30pm - 11:00pm, Sat-Sun shift 08:30am - 5:00pm.What we can offer youAccrued Days Off in addition to Annual LeaveGenerous salary packaging options and other fringe benefitsLearning and development opportunities, including in-house training with RTO My Health LearningWhat you''ll be doingPerform a range of laboratory investigations and tests (manual and automated) and technical tasks by applying established methods and procedures, as directed. Undertake other laboratory duties including preparation of materials and the maintenance of equipment in line with established laboratory processes, procedures and protocols.Minimum QualificationsMinimum qualification of Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution with subjects relevant to pathology or medical laboratory operationsDemonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services within a discipline relevant to the department, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality SystemsAbility to work in a responsible and efficient manner and to manage competing priorities to meet deadlinesDemonstrated ability to work in a team environment whilst working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes set to meet client expectationsCustomer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers and patients as well as clinical laboratory staffDisplay initiative, problem solving and analytical skills including an ability to apply established principles in a pathology laboratory and investigate and resolve general and complex issues within the laboratory environmentCommitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement and to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activitiesOccupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious DiseasesThis is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand NSW Health Policy Directive PD2022_030 Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Diseases. All recruits must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. All recruits must provide evidence against specified diseases and comply with the requirements of this policy at their own cost prior to appointment.All NSW Health workers are required to have two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, as defined by NSW Health. Employees working in a clinical area or are required to attend clinical areas are considered category A. Category A positions are required to provide evidence of having received three doses of COVID-19 vaccine in accordance with the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (TGA) and meet the requirements of the Occupational Assessment Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy Directive. You will be required to provide a record of your COVID-19 vaccination status if successful.Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate.
