Employment Type: Permanent Full TimePosition Classification: Staff SpecialistRequisition ID: REQ569259Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist to join our team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.We are looking for a Staff Specialist in Renal Medicine! The primary purpose of the role of Staff Specialist in Renal Medicine is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Nephrology/Renal Medicine, and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Renal Medicine Department and Hospital as required.Renal Medicine at RPA works within the Kidney Centre RPA and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, as a component of Renal Medicine SLHD, within the newly formed SLHD Renal Medicine and Urology Stream. RPA provides an integrated, full range of renal services including dialysis, transplantation, maternal nephrology, hypertension and glomerulonephritis, with significant rural outreach. The Renal Department is research-active with a number of clinical and basic research programs.The specific components of clinical activity will include provision of inpatient and outpatient care in general nephrology, with expertise in dialysis. A particular focus of this position is Maternal Nephrology and Acute Transplant Service. The Staff Specialist will be required to have currency of clinical practice in Maternal Nephrology and will lead this service delivery and development. Previous experience in provision of such services is essential.The Staff Specialist will ensure a high standard of professional performance and, where required, the encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.The successful applicant will be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) with recognised qualifications in Nephrology/Renal Medicine and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Consultant experience in general nephrology, dialysis and maternal nephrology desirable.
