The role reports to the Senior Management Team and contributes to the overall success of the organisation.More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:Providing legal advice, representation, and referrals across areas including family law, domestic violence, tenancy, and employmentRepresenting clients in courts and tribunals, including as a duty lawyerCollaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver holistic, trauma-informed supportParticipating in outreach work, including occasional remote travelDelivering community legal education and building legal literacyBuilding partnerships and engaging with community-based organisationsParticipating in law reform and advocacy projectsMaintaining legal files, reports, and administrative complianceUndertaking professional development and contributing to internal staff trainingAbout YouTo qualify, you will need to be eligible to hold a Practising Certificate in the Northern Territory. A minimum of 2 years of post-admission experience in an Australian legal practice is also essential.Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and/or First Nations backgroundsKnowledge of general civil law matters, particularly Domestic and Family ViolencePrior experience in Community Legal Centres and familiarity with the CLASS databaseStrong understanding of legal, economic, and social issues affecting women in Central AustraliaAs our ideal candidate, you will possess strong teamwork and independent work skills, well-developed time management skills, and a commitment to social justice and equality.
