Job Description

This role is focused on compliance, risk, and emergency management at Victoria''s most complex mines in the Latrobe Valley. The position contributes to and influences solutions in complex mine management, including high-level input to inform policy direction and strategy formulation.The successful applicant will conduct detailed assessments of mine operations and plans to ensure that risks and non-compliance are identified and corrective action is applied.This is a dynamic work environment, responding to emerging issues and incidents, and ensuring wherever possible that significant risk is recognised in advance and appropriately managed. The position plays a key strategic role in identifying and meeting forecast compliance needs, including compliance with future declared mine rehabilitation plans.This is a great opportunity to make a difference in the energy transition, providing for growth and development as a regulator in a dynamic mining, energy and climate change role within a flexible and supportive team.Specialist/Technical Expertise/QualificationsGraduate Diploma in Government Investigations completion within an appropriate timeframe from appointment is mandatory, if not already held.A current valid Victorian driver''s licence is mandatory.Demonstrated ability to regulate and undertake compliance-related actions, including experience in conducting investigations for non-compliance and the application of enforcement measures, preferably in environmental, natural resources or a similar discipline.Demonstrated experience in complex industry regulation, risk audit, emergency management, or earth resources industries and knowledge of the associated environmental and community issues.Demonstrated experience in mentoring and development of team members, with the ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interpret complex technical data and generate high-quality written material for a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.A tertiary qualification in earth or environmental sciences, engineering or emergency management would be well regarded.This is an ongoing position.
