GENERAL MANAGERLead a world-class blood supply system that saves and improves Australian lives.The National Blood Authority (NBA) is a vital Australian Government agency ensuring the safe, secure, and affordable supply of blood, blood products, and related services nationwide. Operating under the National Blood Authority Act 2003 and the National Blood Agreement, the NBA manages a substantial budget, almost $1.9 billion in 2024-25, on behalf of the Commonwealth and state and territory governments. Through national procurement, supply planning, and sector improvement, the NBA plays a critical role in delivering life-saving products to Australians in need.The Australian Government is seeking a visionary and capable leader to serve as General Manager of the NBA. This statutory position reports to the responsible Commonwealth Minister and as the NBAs most senior executive and Accountable Authority is responsible for leading the agencys strategic direction, operations, stakeholder engagement, and governance.This is a unique opportunity to lead a nationally significant agency delivering essential health outcomes. You will be responsible for high-level financial management, policy oversight, contract negotiations, supply chain governance, and risk management. Strong collaboration with the Department of Health and Aged Care and all jurisdictions underpins this role.To succeed in this role, you will be a dynamic, forward-thinking leader with a strong record of delivering results in complex, high-stakes environments. You will inspire teams, drive performance, and manage large-scale programs, budgets, and contracts demonstrating sound judgement and strategic insight. Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, as is the ability to build trust across governments, suppliers, and clinical leaders.
