Job Description

SANDAS is seeking an individual with a proven track record in providing financial advice at the board level or in a similar capacity.Role Duties of the Treasurer (working alongside the Board and CEO) include:Participating in full Board (second Wednesday of the month from 3.00-5.00 pm Feb - Dec) and Executive Committee meetings (3.00-4.00pm on the First Wednesday of the month).Ensuring that the Board maintains the financial literacy necessary to conduct the business of SANDAS.Providing opinion and recommendations on issues and financial matters.Ensuring that appropriate financial policies and procedures are in place and fully documented.Reporting to the Board at each Board Meeting and Annual General Meeting on SANDASs financial situation and any issues.Becoming one of four signatories to SANDASs two to sign bank accounts (held at CUSA) and authorising online payments which have been prepared by the Finance Officer and approved by the CEO if required.Ensuring that SANDASs financial control procedures are adequate and that appropriate safeguards against fraud are in place, as well as ensuring that risk management strategies (including insurances) are in place.Ensuring that SANDAS is compliant with all applicable accounting and taxation arrangements.Supporting SANDAS Financial Officer in reporting to ACNC and related bodies.SANDAS operates in an Office 365 SharePoint and a MYOB environment.As a Board Member you will need to become an individual member of SANDAS, comply with ACNC requirements and be resident in South Australia.About The OrganisationThe South Australian Network of Drug and Alcohol Services (SANDAS) was established in 2004, to enhance community wellbeing and reduce the harms associated with alcohol and drug use. As the peak, we provide independent, state-wide representation, advocacy and support for the 40 non-government organisations providing early intervention, prevention, education, treatment and support services to South Australians affected by their or a loved ones use of alcohol or other drugs. SANDAS facilitates networking, collaboration, research, information sharing, advocacy, workforce development and policy review to reduce the harmful impacts of alcohol and other drugs. We are the voice of our members and stakeholders at national and state levels.
