The Haematology and Transfusion department at Gold Coast University Hospital are looking for a permanent part-time Scientist Haematology/Blood Bank to become a member of a team Health Professionals and Clinical Assistants providing a 24-hour service.The Scientist Haematology/Blood Bank will perform complex and diverse scientific and technical tasks and engage in independent decision making and judgement on a day to day basis with minimal clinical practise supervision in the analysis of patient specimens.What you''ll doApply independent scientific judgement in the analysis of patient specimens leading to the verification and validation of test results and the provision of advice to the clinical unit where appropriate as clinical experience increases.Undertake simple to complex diagnostic testing and related duties following Pathology Queensland established accredited protocols and standards within a single or multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards with minimal supervision.Provide input in the development of scientific practices, procedures and protocols within the Haematology/Transfusion work area.About youWe are searching for someone with:Demonstrates a competent level of knowledge, expertise and skill in Haematology and Transfusion.Demonstrated ability to participate in a single-discipline or multidisciplinary team on a 24 hr / 7 day roster, on-call roster and contribute a range of diagnostic skills relevant to the discipline.Demonstrated ability to apply established principles to a Haematology and Transfusion service with provision of results and clinical advice in a client focused manner.Demonstrated ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation / certification.A relevant degree (Medical Laboratory Science) in Science or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution.Why work with us?Work alongside passionate professionals in a supportive and inclusive environment that values people and prioritises employee success and wellbeing.
