Senior Manager, Youth Justice Act ImplementationJob Function: PolicyWork Type: Fixed term - full timeAbout this roleGreat opportunity to join Youth Justice in a key leadership position.Drive implementation of the Youth Justice Act across the youth justice system.Help to improve community safety, reduce offending and provide genuine opportunities for young people to turn their lives around.The Youth Justice Act 2024 provides strong and clear governing legislation for Victoria''s Youth Justice system that will keep the community safe and more effectively hold children and young people who offend to account by:better responding to the broad spectrum of youth offending from low to high harmembedding a modernised awareness of the differentiated mental capacity and neurological development of children and their unique prospects for rehabilitation, andreflecting the contemporary evidence base of what has been proven successful in addressing youth offending.There is a significant program of work required to implement the YJ Act reforms across Youth Justice, partner justice agencies and community service providers in line with the Act''s staged commencement dates.Reporting to the Director, System Reform and Implementation, the Senior Manager will lead and oversee multiple teams driving implementation of the YJ Act across Youth Justice community and custodial operations as well as leading coordination with partner justice agencies and across the Victorian Government.The role operates within a complex and dynamic environment and presents candidates with the opportunity to deliver critical and enduring reforms to Victoria''s Youth Justice system, based on world''s best practice.The OpportunityOngoing, full-time position based in Melbourne.VPS Grade 6 role: $134,593 - $180,115 per year plus superannuation.Lead the delivery of project management, as well as high-quality briefings, reports and strategic advice for senior DJCS executives, the DJCS Secretary and Ministers.Oversee and lead stakeholder consultation, communication and governance for YJ Act implementation across DJCS and partner justice agencies, including Victoria Police, the Children''s Court of Victoria, CSV, DFFH, VLA, other departments and funded community service providers.Lead the development of supporting legal instruments, such as regulations and delegations, that underpin the YJ Act as well as supporting the development/updating of policies and procedures and training on the reforms.To be successful in this role you will have experience managing significant or complex programs or policy initiatives.You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check, which you will need to maintain for the period of employment.To learn more about the type of skills you will need to thrive in this role, please read the position description.What''s in it for you?You will be working for the Department of Justice and Community Safety, which is one arm of the Victorian State Government, a recognised top employer of choice nationally.
