Position Summary The School of Agriculture, Food and Ecosystem Sciences is searching for an outstanding academic with a passion for social science, agricultural extension and digital irrigation to fill a new position in our Rural Innovation Research Group. In this role, you will work on a large, transdisciplinary project funded by the One Basin Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) aimed at understanding and supporting transitions in digital irrigation in the Murray Darling Basin. The successful applicant will be based regionally at one of the OneBasin CRC hubs and will be required to travel throughout the Murray Darling Basin for research activities. Key Responsibilities A Research Fellow (Level B) is expected to contribute to the research effort of the institution and maintain and develop scholarly, research, and/or professional activities relevant to the profession or discipline. 1.1 RESEARCH Conduct internationally competitive research in social science related to agricultural extension and advisory systems. Collaborate with other researchers in the digital agriculture and irrigation projects. Publish academic papers and other scholarly outputs. Supervise HDR students as required. Present research to the public to elevate awareness of educational and scientific developments. Undertake administrative functions connected with the area of research. 1.2 LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE Participate in School meetings and contribute to planning activities. Demonstrate and promote the Universitys values including diversity and inclusion. 1.3 OTHER DUTIES Perform other tasks as requested by the supervisor or Head of School. Participate in the University Professional Development Framework. Undertake Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) responsibilities. 2. Selection Criteria 2.1 ESSENTIAL Awarded PhD in social science related to agriculture or environmental science. Demonstrated experience in working with stakeholders such as farmers and technology companies. Aptitude for independent research with a sound publication record. Experience in supervising research students. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse workforce. 2.2 DESIRABLE Familiarity with issues in the Murray Darling Basin. Current drivers license. Willingness to live and work in regional areas. 2.3 OTHER JOB-RELATED INFORMATION This position requires a current and valid Working with Children Check. 3.
