Our mission is to preserve, celebrate and share the diverse stories and experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community, creating a space where these narratives can inspire connection, foster understanding and drive positive social change.Located in Taylors Square, Darlinghurst, Sydney, our centre serves as a cultural hub that honours the rich history of LGBTQIA+ communities while actively shaping its future through innovative programming, exhibitions and community engagement initiatives.We are ACNC registered as a not-for-profit organisation.We are seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced professionals to join our Board of Directors. We are looking for dedicated individuals with a minimum of five to 10 years of board experience who can provide strategic guidance and governance oversight to help us achieve our mission and vision.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic direction and oversight for Qtopia Sydney.Ensure sound governance practices and financial sustainability.Contribute to policy development and organisational strategy.Advocate for Qtopia Sydney and its mission in the broader community.Attend and actively participate in board meetings (held bi-monthly i.e. 6 per year).Act as an ambassador for Qtopia Sydney at public events and functions.Eligibility and Selection CriteriaFive to 10 years of experience serving on boards, preferably including corporate and not-for-profit organisations.Fundraising and philanthropy experience.Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.Strong governance knowledge and experience.Strategic thinking and leadership capabilities.Financial literacy and business acumen.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Connection to or understanding of LGBTQIA+ communities and issues.Experience in one or more of the following areas:Arts and cultural management.Government relations.Human Resources.Legal expertise and/or risk management.Marketing and communications.Museum or gallery leadership.Time CommitmentBoard meetings are held bi-monthly (6 per year), typically lasting 2-3 hours.Attendance at key Qtopia Sydney events and functions.Total time commitment of approximately 10-15 hours per month.RemunerationThis is a voluntary position.
