If you have strong technical skills, a great all-rounder and a knack for relationship building, wed love to hear from you!About the Role:In this role, you will apply your expertise to a diverse range of projects, including the design of temporary and permanent foundations, retaining walls, slope stability, pavements, ground improvement, rail track formations and integrated solutions for deep basements and tall buildings. Your solid understanding of Australian Standards and local geotechnical experience will be an essential component of your role.What to expect day to day:Develop effective geotechnical design solutions across various scenarios and sectors.Prepare reports, specifications, and site investigation briefs.Draft proposals with attention to commercial aspects and project quoting.Undertake geotechnical design on simple and complex situations including proficient use of finite element analysis.Manage small to medium projects from inception, including budgeting, forecasting, and invoicing.Conduct site visits for construction phase services, bid meetings, and pavement condition assessments, with occasional short-term interstate travel.Collaborate confidently with external partners, clients, and internal stakeholders, and communicate effectively.Assist the Geotechnical Lead in client relationship development, team training and mentoring, and fostering strong interdisciplinary relationships.Be a key member of the National Geotechnical team and be involved in a range of projects nationally.About you:A minimum of bachelors degree in civil engineering, Geology or Engineering Geology.Ideally 8+ years of relevant experience in Geotechnical Engineering within an Australian based multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy, ideally in New South Wales or Victoria.Chartered Status in Engineering Australia or be working towards.Strong technical background and analytical skills in:Engineering Geology and/or Geotechnical interpretation of ground conditions.Soil-structure interaction and finite element analysis.Deep excavations.Retaining wall design and construction.Pavement Design.Proficiency in using software packages such as: Slope/W or equivalent; Plaxis 2D & 3D or equivalent; Wallap or equivalent; RS Pile; DeepEx.Sound understanding of relevant engineering standards and guidelines, particularly the Australian Bridge Code AS5100, piling design AS2159 and local Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) or Victorian Department of Transport Standards and Specifications.Experience in detailed design stage in major infrastructure projects from a multi-disciplinary background is desirable.About BG&E:BG&E is an employee-owned engineering consultancy with more than half a century of experience.
