Location: Perth (William Street)Work Type: Fixed Term - Full Time, Fixed Term - Part Time, Permanent - Full Time, Permanent - Part TimeBe part of the future of Regional Aviation.The Department of Transport is looking for a dedicated, capable and forward-thinking person to join the Aviation Team in the Freight, Ports, Aviation and Reform directorate.This opportunity would suit a recent graduate with some professional experience or a person looking to take the next step in their career through a project and policy role in the public sector. Previous experience in government or transport related industries is welcomed but not required.The OpportunityThis opportunity is for a full time L4 Policy and Project Officer (Aviation team) and is available for 12 months with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.We are looking for a high-performing individual with relevant experience who can apply and develop their skills to contribute to the success of our team. Your attention to detail, positive attitude, well-developed written and verbal communication skills and ability to remain agile will be key to your success in this role.In this role, you will support the delivery of the Regional Airports Development Scheme (RADS), Regional Airports Pavement Upgrade Program and the Kimberley Subsidised Air Service. Your responsibilities will include project managing grants to regional airports and regional air services subsidies. You will regularly liaise with key government and industry stakeholders, manage invoicing and budgeting, draft written documentation and conduct research and analysis to inform Government decision-making. As such, you will have the ability to think critically, conduct research, analyse data, form an opinion and present information to a wide variety of stakeholders. Additionally, the role will also contribute to RADS grant policy development.We need someone who can:Takes responsibility for delivering allocated projects/tasks.Maintains a high level of accuracy and has an eye for detail.Thinks critically, with the ability to problem solve.Thrives within a dynamic, busy team environment and contributes to the achievement of results by helping others and being agile, proactive, and solutions focused.Communicates well in writing and is able to draft concise, accurate and clear grant documents and briefing papers for review and is able to build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders.Understands budgets, processing of invoices and financial terminology.Communicates effectively and builds strong relationships with a range of stakeholders.Contributes to the development, implementation and evaluation of aviation projects and programs.Can research and analyse policy issues, data and industry trends and provide advice and recommendations to senior staff.About Department of TransportWorking for the Department of Transport (DoT) allows you to play a part in connecting the people of Western Australia.
