SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well and providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.The Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital Diversity Health Coordinator (SSEH DHC) is committed to improving the provision of sensitive, accessible, and appropriate health services to patients, families, and carers from diverse backgrounds. These include consumers from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds; people with a disability; carers, LGBTQI+; those with low health literacy and other priority populations in line with the Diversity Health Plan. The DHC will also work with the Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer to improve service provision to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander consumers. This will be achieved with key stakeholders to identify barriers to access healthcare services and develop solutions.This position leads the implementation of the SSEH Diversity Health Plan and the SSEH Aboriginal Health Plan driving the SSEH implementation of relevant NSW and SESLHD Strategic Plans for diverse communities. Additionally, this role will collaboratively assess needs, identify priorities, plan, implement and evaluate actions/projects to improve the responsiveness of the workforce and systems to meet the needs of diverse consumers. The DHC will also foster networks and collaborate with consumers from diverse backgrounds, other Diversity Health Coordinators, SESLHD services including Priority Populations, and other peak Non-Government Organisations leading innovative diversity work.This position partners with the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District Multicultural Health Unit to deliver tangible outcomes for patients in the local community from diverse backgrounds.
