An efficient and effective financial reporting mechanism is critical to the organization, as inaccurate and non-submission of Financial Statements could impact on the ability of CHQ to comply with SEC and other regulatory requirements. As such this role will constantly be required to interact and build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including but not limited to, Corporate and European Management.Location: Sydney, Melbourne or AdelaideThe Finance Director APAC is a key leadership position reporting into the CooperSurgical (CSI) Corporate Controller. The role will manage and oversee the Accounting, Financial Reporting and Risk & Controls activities, while engaging heavily with the Corporate Controller and the individual in-market Finance Controllers. They will also work with commercial and operational management as well as the FP&A function to ensure their teams have the support required, and future developments are understood and implemented correctly.This role will also support the Corporate Controller in driving strategic change alongside processes, policy and efficiency improvements on a path toward greater alignment of accounting and control processes. Technical accounting escalations and general accounting support for the markets will be delivered from this role, fostering a close working relationship with the Finance Controllers and FP&A, allowing them to gain quick feedback and guidance on complex topics to support their financial responsibilities in a more efficient manner.The role will work with the Business Process leads as we develop the future path of our Dynamics 365 ERP journey, helping formulate local and in-market implementation including the risk and control framework while at all times assessing requirements for future releases ensuring we create a truly transformational platform that will support an efficient standardized business and accounting operational framework for the future.ResponsibilitiesLead and provide strategic direction to the Finance team with a focus on improving the month end close process and financial controls of the APAC Finance organization.Maintain and enhance the region''s accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives.Maintain and enhance the internal control, policy, and process framework for the region, ensuring greater consistency, harmonization, and standardization to the global organization.Lead the monthly financial close activities of the region, working alongside the market Finance Controllers to review the results and ensure a fast, efficient, and accurate close, escalating accounting issues for resolution.Oversee a standardized regional balance sheet review process using Blackline capabilities to provide oversight and set expectations around the accuracy and confidence in the balance sheet accounts/ values.Partner/ liaise with the Corporate Controller team, working proactively on improvements to US GAAP reporting, global policies, accounting, and control setting processes to mitigate risk and enable growth and scalability underpinned with excellence in compliance and relevant controls.Work closely with Internal / External Audit to facilitate SOX, quarterly reviews, and year-end integrated audits. Coordinate and oversee the execution of all audit procedures to ensure timeliness in completion and resolution of test work and open items.Key APAC stakeholder for the Global ERP Program, with focus on the Record-To-Report management process.Leading a team of 5 direct staff at the manager/controller level, while having indirect responsibilities for their teams across the region.Drive organization improvements to develop a high performing team, working with direct and indirect staff to ensure that adequate development plans are in place so that the organization creates and grows a bench of high performing finance and accounting talent.Finance leader to the regional commercial and operational management for the accounting treatment of contemplated business initiatives or new markets.Qualified Accountant (ACA /CIMA/ ACCA or equivalent) with strong background in Financial Accounting Internal Controls, and preferably in Shared Services.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to analyze complex issues and recommend and implement practical solutions.Proven leader of extended teams, combining the team, individual development, and tasks.Strong data/numerical skills, with solid system capabilities.An international mindset - culturally aware, flexible, and pragmatic.Solutions oriented - not someone who hides behind policy and procedure.Demonstrable experience in US GAAP Accounting and Transfer Pricing would be viewed positively.Additional languages are always beneficial, and a solid understanding of an integrated ERP system (MS Dynamics preferred) would be an advantage.Work EnvironmentInternational travel should be expected in this role - up to 10-20%, mainly in APAC, and occasionally the USA to understand market level activities at a strategic and detailed level, building relationships with the extended teams and close ties with country/ market Finance Managers and Corporate Finance.Multi-cultural environment, with global interactions.Flexibility in work hours will be required around key delivery points throughout the year.ExperienceExperience of working in a multi-cultural, international Finance Shared Service Centre role.Will have managed a Finance team with international responsibilities.Experience gained in a Global/US matrix managed business is highly desirable.Post M&A business integration experience is desirable.Education And SkillsEducated to degree (ideally Accounting/ Finance) level or equivalent.Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with 10+ years post qualified experience in similar roles.IT proficient in MS Office and ERPs (including Excel, Word, Navision, Dynamics 365 and HFM).Great communication and presentation skills. #J-18808-Ljbffr
