This full-time permanent position will be based in the Chatswood district of Sydney and report directly to the Fleet Director, Technical Operations. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for all technical issues related to assigned ships. The TOM will lead long-term technical operations planning, including budgeting and proactive maintenance, while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Yes, thats a long weekend every fortnight!Offering a hybrid work model 2 days WFH and 3 days Office.Ability to travel overseas both domestic and internationalFantastic Chatswood office location close to shops, public transport, restaurants, gyms and more!Fantastic discount on cruises, onboard product launches, airline, and Hotel discounts through our partners.Key Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:Technical Operations Planning and Budget Management:Develop and lead long-term technical planning, including budgeting and dry-dock specifications for assigned ships.Oversee budget management, approve requisitions for maintenance, and track expenses against the planned budget.Plan and execute major dry-dock operations, such as those scheduled for Luminosa and Encounter in October 2026.Maintenance and Repair Coordination:Manage the implementation of the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) onboard, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.Coordinate maintenance, repairs, certifications, and modifications to maintain vessel readiness.Regularly update technical systems (e.g., Infoship) with accurate maintenance data and performance metrics.Technical Issue Management and Troubleshooting:Serve as the primary contact for technical issues, providing support to ship management as needed.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical challenges effectively.Proactively analyse technical data to identify and address potential issues before they affect operations.Compliance and Certification Management:Ensure vessel compliance with Flag and Port State Authority, US Coast Guard, Classification Society, and regulatory requirements.Monitor certification status, including Condition of Class (CoC), Statutory Deficiencies (SD), and non-conformities.Conduct regular risk assessments and implement corrective actions to maintain safety and regulatory compliance.Leadership and Collaboration:Lead the POD for assigned ships, coordinating tasks with technical and operational managers.Facilitate communication between technical teams and other departments to ensure aligned maintenance efforts.Provide input on evaluations for POD members and support their professional development.Documentation and Reporting:Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, compliance checks, and technical updates.Regularly update Infoship and AMOS systems to ensure accurate documentation and reporting.Prepare reports for the Fleet Director on technical performance, maintenance progress, and compliance metrics.About You:You are an experienced maritime professional with a strong engineering background, ideally as a Staff, First, or Chief Engineer, with significant sea-going experience. You have extensive knowledge of ship operations, technical maintenance, and planning systems. You possess solid cognitive abilities, good business acumen, and an understanding of budgets and planning. This role requires a flexible, adaptable individual who is available at short notice, able to handle early mornings, late nights, and on-call duties. You must be prepared for frequent and sometimes extended travel, including overseas visits and shipboard stays. This is not a role for someone with significant commitments, as it requires the freedom to move around as needed.You thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. You are able to independently manage challenging situations, make quick decisions, and adapt to changing priorities. Your leadership and communication skills enable you to coordinate with a wide range of stakeholders and ensure effective execution of technical operations.To be successful, you will demonstrate:7-10 years of experience in a related field, preferably including management of large cruise vessels.Minimum 5-7 years of progressive, licensed experience afloat, ideally at the level of Second Engineer or Senior Electrician on AC Diesel-Electric propulsion vessels.Strong knowledge of marine technical systems, regulatory compliance, and budgeting.Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.Proficiency with data analytics and Microsoft Office 365; experience with Tableau is desirable.Familiarity with AMOS and AMOS-based applications is preferred.Ability to manage technical operations and maintenance programs in a shore-based environment.Bachelors Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.If you are a seasoned professional with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges and thrive in a high-pressure, dynamic environment, we encourage you to apply.
