Social Worker - Acute Bereavement and Palliative CareJob Description:Position Title: Social Worker Acute Bereavement and Palliative CareEmployment Type: Permanent, Part-TimeHours per week: 16 Hours Per WeekPosition Grade: Social Worker Level 3Salary: $112,396.09 - $116,038.01, pro rata per annumDepartment and Location: Social Work, St Vincents Hospital, DarlinghurstAbout the Role:Join a dynamic team focused on providing quality care to clients within the Social Work Department, particularly in the Acute Bereavement role.Support palliative care efforts by responding to the end-of-life needs of acute patients, their families, and carers, complementing the work of Palliative Care Social Workers.Provide bereavement follow-up after sudden or traumatic deaths, offering ongoing support to families following complex or high-risk situations.Address complex issues related to risk and grief, working with individuals and families to navigate challenging emotional and social circumstances post-death.Selection Criteria:Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincents Health Australia.Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) with evidence of clinical experience in a hospital or health related field as a practicing Social Worker.Demonstrated knowledge, advanced clinical skills and experience in life limiting illness in inpatient and community based palliative care, including trauma informed therapeutic counselling and care of patients, families and carers in the context of grief, loss & trauma.Demonstrated competencies in comprehensive psycho-social assessments, crisis intervention, anticipatory grief, loss and bereavement, complex clinical casework, end of life care and family work.Demonstrated commitment, experience and ability to work as a member of multidisciplinary and social work teams in a specialised environment.Well-developed skills in written and verbal communication, computer literacy, time management, prioritisation, liaison and negotiation.Ability to undertake and contribute to research projects and lead quality improvement and education activities and a commitment to maintaining professional skills and knowledge base.Willingness to participate in the on-call service.Why Work at St Vincents?Join a leading not-for-profit organisation committed to compassionate, excellent care.Access generous salary packaging and Fitness Passport for eligible staff.Opportunities for career development across the St Vincents Health Australia Network.Participate in a range of educational programs and post-graduate opportunities.Enjoy a great work/life balance and a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program.Sponsorship / Work Rights for Australia: Please note, that sponsorship is not available for this position.
