Visit us today and check out www.novascotia.com to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityReporting to the Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) Manager and Supervisor of the Medical Device Reprocessing Department, the MDR Technician identifies, disassembles, decontaminates, inspects, assembles, processes and distributes reusable supplies to the nursing units, clinics and departments. The MDR Technician is responsible for providing sterile equipment and supplies to the Surgical Suite and is responsible for the reprocessing of flexible scopes within the Endoscopy and Operating Room Departments. Other job-related duties required.All responsibilities are carried out in adherence to professional standards, manufacturers instructions and departmental policies and procedures. The MDR Tech ensures that the principles and practices that guide our work at Nova Scotia Health such as the mission, vision, values, expected behaviors, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships, and interprofessional collaboration are integrated within the services they provide and through the messages they deliver.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:Grade 12Successful completion of an approved Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program requiredOne (1) year experience in Medical Device ReprocessingKnowledge of infection control principles and the sterilization processComputer experience, medical terminology, microbiology, knowledge of infection control measures and practicesAbility to work with delicate instruments and to operate large equipmentAbility to communicate well with all user departments and work effectively as a team memberDemonstrate accountability, strong work ethic and attention to detail, good problem solving and decision makingAbility to stand for long periods of time assembling instruments, utensils and sets of instrumentsAbility to withstand heavy instrument sets and to push/pull carts to and from units of approximately 30 poundsTolerance to pre-enzymes, detergents, disinfectants and stain removers in the decontamination processSuccessful candidate is required to take and successfully pass a functional assessment to determine the physical capabilities to complete the physical job demands of the jobSuccessful candidates have the opportunity to take the course if hired, also training on the job if candidate is successfulCompetencies in other languages an asset, French preferred*Where there are no applicants who have completed the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program, consideration for a Medical Device Reprocessing in Training may be given to applicants who are currently enrolled in an approved Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program or who commit to completing this program at their own expense within the first 14 months of employment (must submit proof of course enrollment within six weeks of being hired into the Medical Device Reprocessing in Training position).HoursShort assignment full-time position; 75 hours biweeklyApproximately 4 months (Assignment length subject to change)Expected to be available for all shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, nights and holidays on primary unit or reassigned unitsTravel to various sites may be requiredCompensation and Benefits$23.46 - $27.24 HourlyOnce You''ve AppliedThank you for your interest in this position.
