This Project involves greenfields and brownfields developments including earthworks through challenging terrain, construction of new crushing facilities, and transmission line installations.Job Summary:In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a projects piping engineering aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of piping components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure uniquely complex requirements of a projects piping engineering aspects are met.This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.Major Responsibilities:Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews plant design and piping engineering work on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit.Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of personnel assigned, estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work accordingly.Develops conceptual designs for plant design and piping projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements.Examines and analyses pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance.Optimises facility layout based on piping and instrument diagrams, client requirements, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements.Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of personnel.Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management.Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules.Provides the technical input to meet procurement requirements.Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting.Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.Coordinates with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval of plant design aspects of the work.Reviews and approves key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders, for the project to which assigned.Conducts or leads special studies of new plant design methods, materials, and techniques.Mentors plant design and piping personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development.Provides input to and participates in special technical educational and training programs as directed.When delegated, provides guidance to other plant design engineering personnel for specific tasks or project-subgroups.Reviews and checks work of others as assigned.Education and Experience Requirements:Typically requires bachelor''s degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience, or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.Required Knowledge and Skills:Recognized as advanced contributor with specialised skill set.Considered highly skilled and proficient in discipline.Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialisation, resolves a wide range of complex issues in creative and effective ways.Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of variable factors.Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.Acts as advisor and mentor to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.Bechtel is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
