Do you have a knack for developing innovative natural peril models and insights? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! As a Specialist Geohazards and Engineering, you will play a crucial role in utilising your expertise to develop and implement natural peril models for risk-based pricing, reinsurance modelling, and major event response. You will also contribute to research and analyses that enhance our understanding of asset vulnerability and risk reduction opportunities.Key responsibilities will include:Develop and implement natural peril models (especially earthquake and related geohazards) for risk-based pricing and reinsurance modelling.Provide major event loss reserving, reporting, and post-event analyses.Conduct research to better understand asset vulnerability and embed insights into peril models and business operations.Offer guidance on building resilience and risk reduction opportunities.Collaborate with external organisations, including government agencies, research institutions, and industry partners.Lead initiatives and mentor junior team members.This is a permanent full-time position with hybrid working conditions, available in Australia, with a preference for this role to be based at our IAG office based in the Gadigal Country (Darling Park 2, Sydney).About YouWere looking to engage with some experienced talent within the industry, to be successful youll ideally have the following skills and experience:5+ years of experience in earthquake engineering, wind engineering, or related fields.Proficiency in statistical software (R, SAS) and geospatial software (QGIS, ArcGIS, Mapinfo).Experience in catastrophe model development and operations.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to communicate complex analyses clearly and effectively.Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in earthquake engineering, geohazards, or related fields.If you''re excited about taking on a challenging and rewarding role where you can lead initiatives and drive innovation in geohazards and risk management, we want to hear from you.
