Please fill in your details below to submit an application for this position.The primary site for this position is: MelbourneResponsibilitiesEnsure sterilisation practice standards AS/NZ 4187 and 5369 and infection control are adhered to at all timesCoordinating distribution of sterilised glassware and equipmentPerform duties in all work areas of the department (decontamination, packing, sterilisation)Testing, disinfection, decontamination of machinery (washers, dryers, sterilisers, incubators)Coordinating with Laboratory and Technical Services Team on the autoclave training of research staffAbility to plan, manage resources and understand the importance of prioritised equipmentPerform duties as specified by the Precinct Facilities ManagerSelection CriteriaAbility to coordinate a sterilisation/laboratory washup service OR experience working in a labAble to prioritize, plan and take initiative to respond to changesKnowledge and understanding of safety protocols in a scientific laboratory environmentEffective interpersonal skills and ability to work collaborativelyUnderstanding of PC2: Biosafety - Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) - Gene Technology ActExperience in contaminated waste handling requirementsThe ability to learn new processes and tasks quickly and efficientlyCertificate III in sterilisationEmployment TermsThis position is a fixed term contract role in a part time (0.8) capacity with a possibility to share the role between two people. The starting salary is TAP 4 but negotiable depending on level of experience.
