Community engagement officer Indigenous Identified Position (Female)The Tackling Indigenous Smoking Program works across three partner organisations, collaborating regionally to deliver community-focused activities that support engagement and education regarding smoking and vaping impacts in homes and workplaces, particularly targeting vulnerable groups. The goal is to reduce smoking prevalence, chronic disease rates, and improve life expectancy within the community.You will have the opportunity to work with communities, promoting the benefits of intervention strategies related to smoking and vaping behaviors, and collaborating with organisations to implement Smoke and Vape Free workplace policies and practices.The community engagement role supports the regional team in delivering programs and activities, with a focus on visiting isolated communities and adapting messaging and materials based on community priorities. The role is located in Ballina, and the successful applicant will undertake health promotion activities focusing on smoking and vaping across Aboriginal communities from the Central Coast to Tweed Heads.Key Selection Criteria:Aboriginality - Female IdentifiedDemonstrated experience in effectively communicating and working constructively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, including developing and maintaining effective networks, alliances, and relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families, communities, and health sector organisations using a strengths-based approach;Understanding of the health, social, and emotional wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people;Demonstrated experience in project administration, coordination, and planning, including strong organisational skills and the ability to negotiate for positive results;Well-developed interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills;Personal drive and ability to determine priorities, work effectively in teams, and manage workloads to achieve program goals;Knowledge of smoking prevention and cessation programs;A willingness to travel and work weekends and/or after hours.There are no mandatory qualifications for these positions:Existing qualifications that are highly regarded include:Certificate III or IV Community Services;Certificate IV Alcohol and Other Drugs;Certificate IV Aboriginal Primary Health.MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:Working with Children Check Clearance;National Police Check Clearance.Please attach Resume, Cover Letter and ensure to complete the Selection Criteria Questions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
