DescriptionPosition SummaryThe Underwriting Assistant supports the underwriting team by managing administrative tasks and facilitating the pre-underwriting process. This role is essential in ensuring timely, informed underwriting decisions by assisting with submission intake, rating processes, and file preparation. The Underwriting Assistant works closely with agents and internal departments to ensure accuracy and compliance throughout the policy lifecycle.Key Responsibilities and Essential FunctionsManage submission intake and track new business using Excel and Excel OnlineReview and clear new business submissionsEnter submission data into the Policy Administration System to process rating worksheetsCommunicate with agents to obtain required or missing informationComplete initial data entry on the Risk Analysis Worksheet (RAW)Assign submissions to appropriate underwriters with attention to detailEmail policies and welcome kits to agents and policyholdersProcess loss run and experience modification worksheet requestsAssist with preparation of renewal quotesBind and issue policies in the Policy Administration SystemProcess endorsements, including cancellations and reinstatementsDeliver proposals and quotes within established timeframesRespond to internal compliance inquiries and external requests from agents, brokers, and policyholdersParticipate in training, workshops, and conventions to stay current on workers compensation rules, regulations, and underwriting practicesUse resources such as IRMI and the NCCI website to enhance underwriting knowledgePerform additional tasks and special projects as assignedRequirements35 years of administrative experience preferredPrior experience in workers compensation insurance strongly desiredProficient in Microsoft Office, particularly ExcelStrong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracyAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environmentReliable and punctual, including in remote work settingsReceptive to direction with the ability to adapt to changing market conditionsStrong organizational and multitasking abilitiesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsCapable of interpreting and following written, verbal, or diagrammed instructionsMaintains confidentiality of sensitive informationDemonstrated discretion, sound judgment, and strong administrative skillsComfortable working remotely, with effective communication via Teams, email, and phone #J-18808-Ljbffr
