With the international composites industry poised for significant automation transitions, ACM CRC aims to position Australia at the forefront of this evolution by enhancing sovereign manufacturing, ensuring supply chain security, facilitating the Industry 4.0 transition, transforming the workforce, promoting digital production and export, and supporting green energy and electric vehicle economies.About the roleACM CRC is seeking a visionary Research & Development (R&D) Director to drive composites manufacturing innovation and lead research programs that transform Australias industry. The R&D Director will play a pivotal role in guiding the CRCs R&D initiatives, ensuring alignment with industry needs and technological advancements. This leadership position requires a visionary individual capable of steering complex research programs and fostering collaborations across multiple sectors. With a $250M investment over 10 years, ACM CRC is at the forefront of automation, digitisation, and sustainability in composites.About youAs R&D Director, you will develop and execute ACM CRCs research strategy, oversee collaborative industry-relevant projects, and mentor research leaders. Reporting to the CEO, you will engage with industry, academic, and government partners to ensure research excellence and commercial impact.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement 1, 2, and 5-year rolling research strategies.Lead and mentor multidisciplinary research teams and Program Leaders.Drive innovation, knowledge dissemination, and commercialisation.Foster collaboration across universities, industry, and government.Oversee research funding, compliance, and reporting.Who Were Looking ForProven industrial R&D leadership experience in composites and automation.Strong industry engagement and project management skills.Experience managing large-scale research projects ($5M+ budgets).Ability to mentor teams, drive innovation, and deliver impact.Postgraduate qualification and/or extensive relevant experience.To apply and for a copy of the Candidate Information Pack, please go to kornferry.com and search the role title.
