We are expanding our technician teams within the Sydney region and have openings for an Installation Technician trainee. This is an entry level position and a unique opportunity to learn and work in some of the most innovative and fast paced data-centers in the world.The Infrastructure Delivery team is responsible for the scaling and physical deployment of new data-center infrastructure. As part of that team, an Installation Technician trainee will be primarily tasked with installing cabling and new racks within the data-centers. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, highly motivated individual with a willingness to learn and upskill. The candidate must be able to perform physically repetitive tasks and adhere to standard processes and best practices. Candidates will be learning and working in a team environment and must be able to communicate and promote cross-team functionality.This position has a large physical component and will require applicants to be carrying out physical work for large portions of the day, including:Moving and lifting computer equipment;Able to work from a ladder and EWP (elevated working platform);Regularly lift 7kg and lift up to 18kg;Wear PPE as required;Use hand and power tools;This is a 12 month trainee position with a possible opportunity to convert to permanent after the program.Key job responsibilitiesAdhere to security and safety best practices in the data-center;Installation and testing of copper and fiber optic cabling from ladders and MEWPs;Basic build and troubleshooting of network devices;Creating/attaching labels and barcodes;Managing inventory of related materials;Adhering to defined escalation processes and standard operating procedures;Work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperatures than standard office environmental conditions;Installing large quantities of SFPs, batteries, and other equipment into computer racks;Have a current driving license and transportation to commute to different locations within the Sydney region.About the teamThe Infrastructure Delivery team consists of a diverse range of builders from around the globe, ranging from trade backgrounds to networking professionals working together to deliver the necessary physical network infrastructure for cloud computing.BASIC QUALIFICATIONSHigh school or equivalent diplomaAre 18 years of age or olderPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of computer hardware components and operating systemsAcknowledgement of country:In the spirit of reconciliation, Amazon acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea, and community.
