Specialising in assisting women affected by Domestic and Family Violence, CAWLS adopts a holistic and culturally safe approach, offering services such as law reform, legal representation, client support, financial counselling, and community legal education.Join a supportive legal team of multicultural women from all across Australia who are dedicated to the mission of CAWLS to enable, educate, and empower women in navigating the legal system, and ensure the respect and consideration of women''s rights.To learn more about us, please visit:the OpportunityCentral Australian Womens Legal Service (CAWLS) is looking for a full-time or part-time Social Worker / Local Link Senior Education Officer, based in Alice Springs, NT.In this rewarding role, you will deliver personalised and planned case-managed support to women accessing CAWLS legal service, with a strong focus on First Nations women and those referred through health sector partnerships. Youll take a client-centred approach to assist with a range of interconnected issues including housing, health, family violence, reunification, and financial security.The position also involves providing outreach services, including court support and travel to Tennant Creek and remote communities.More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:Providing trauma-informed case management and advocacy to CAWLS clientsSupporting clients with housing, health, financial aid, family reunification and community integrationCollaborating with CAWLS solicitors to assess and respond to support needsDelivering socio-legal education and training for health and community service providersDeveloping e-learning tools and training aligned to the NT DFSV Risk Assessment and Management FrameworkConducting service mapping and creating referral pathway resourcesProviding secondary consultations and conducting organisational audits for partner agenciesParticipating in research, law reform and evaluation initiativesMaintaining accurate data and client records in line with organisational policiesAttending staff meetings, contributing to team development, and engaging in professional trainingAbout YouTo qualify, you will need a relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work (or equivalent) and professional registration or the ability to obtain it. A strong understanding of the dynamics of domestic, family, and sexual violence (DFSV) is essential, along with experience supporting women from diverse backgrounds, particularly First Nations women.Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:Experience as an adult educator, facilitator or trainerExperience delivering services in remote, regional or Aboriginal community contextsExperience supporting trauma-affected women with complex needsFamiliarity with the NT DFSV Risk Assessment and Management FrameworkConfidence using MS Office, Excel, and data systems (e.g. CLASS)As our ideal candidate, you will be a passionate and committed advocate for gender equality and social justice.
