As a key member of our team, reporting directly to the Chief Health Information Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate Clinical Coding of all inpatient episodes using ICD-10-AM ACHI 12th edition classification systems applying Australian and state coding standards.You will also:Deliver precise and timely coding of diagnoses and procedures in accordance with the latest coding standardsProcess confidential data used for billing, morbidity collections, research, statistical analysis, management information system, quality activities and Casemix management, including Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG) allocationParticipate in documentation quality assurance including documentation queries.About YouTo thrive in this role, you will excel in both team and independent work, fostering positive relationships and strong communication networks with all stakeholders and departments across the hospital.You will also bring:Education:Clinical Coding qualifications Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA) or equivalent, or Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Information Management)Knowledge of medical terminologySound and updated knowledge of ICD-10-AM 12th edition, National and Victorian coding standards.Good analytical and abstracting skills.Knowledge and understanding of DRG and Case-mixAbility to prioritise tasks and effectively manage time to meet deadlines.Ability and willingness to take on continuing studyOver 1 year of experience in abstracting and coding, although graduates will be considered.Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and patient Management Systems.Minimum 4 years'' experience as a clinical coder.Required to assign accurate and timely clinical codes through analysis and use of ICD-10-AM, 12th EditionValues based organisation with Positive work cultureEligible for membership of HIMAA Clinical Coding qualifications from Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA) or equivalentSound and updated knowledge of Medical Science and Medical TerminologyAbility and willingness to take on continuing studyKnowledge and understanding of DRG, Casemix and private hospital funding modelsKnowledge and understanding of current Privacy legislationAbility to liaise with clinicians and hospital staff about coding and documentation requirements.Experience coding Maternity, Neonatal, gynecology and plasticsPrevious work experience using 3M CodefinderPrevious work experience using MEDITECH.Remuneration: Salary commensurate with experience.Whats in it for you?Professional Advancement: Recognition, Rewards, Professional Development, and Employee referral programs.
