This is a full-time, ongoing teaching role with the possibility of an interim Head of Department position until the end of 2025 for the right candidate, at which time it would be reviewed.We are looking for someone passionate about Humanities with experience and a proven track record delivering an engaging curriculum across Years 7-12, including VCE History Units 1-4. They will be committed to the education of young minds, determined to achieve academic excellence, and cognisant of individual student learning styles.About the role:Inspire excellence in teaching and learning by fostering intellectual inquiry and demonstrating innovative pedagogy.Provide detailed direction and leadership to develop and implement contemporary and diverse pedagogical practices to suit the educational needs of students.Facilitates a positive and dynamic working environment by developing a team approach ensuring open communication, transparent and effective decision making and collaborative work practices.Build strong relationships with key stakeholders including students, parents and colleagues.Engage in ongoing professional learning and the research in best teaching practice.About you:You are passionate about education, learning, the growth and development of individual students and care about their wellbeing. Weve again been awarded as a 5-Star Employer of Choice.Personalised Professional Learning Program for staff.Employee Assistance Program.Opportunities for mentoring and progression career development.Onsite car parking.The ideal candidate:Holds a current VIT registration and Current Police Check.Has demonstrated experience teaching VCE History Units 1-4.Inspires excellence in teaching and learning by fostering intellectual inquiry and demonstrating innovative pedagogy.Has a thorough understanding of contemporary wellbeing and student management practices.Engages effectively with parents, staff, and students to build relationships across the broader community.Has knowledge and understanding of the Schools obligations in respect of Ministerial Order No. 1359, the Reportable Conduct Scheme, mandatory reporting, record keeping in relation to student safety and wellbeing, the failure to disclose and failure to protect offences (and any other information sharing and reporting obligations that may arise). Training will be provided.Has working knowledge of and is able to adhere to the Schools policies and student safety practices, including those detailed in the Student Safety at The Knox School Handbook which can be accessed here.Satisfactorily completes a values-based interview which will assess suitability to work with children and young people, and ensure that children and young peoples rights are respected.Displays a supportive and respectful attitude to students and their families and builds positive connections with all members of the school community.Holds, or is prepared to obtain, a current Level 2 First Aid Qualification, including CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Training.
