This is a Associate Satellite Controller role with one of the leading companies in AU right now Optus with an amazing team. They are continuing to grow rapidly. More About the Role at Optus Based in Belrose, Sydney the Satellite Control team is responsible for on-orbit operations of all satellites under Optus control, managing, operating, and maintaining all ground-based infrastructure (TT and C Systems), and providing specialist engineering expertise in the delivery of Telemetry, Tracking and Command projects and services to external customers. Please note: This role requires minimum AGSVA security clearance in order to be successful. The day to day - Ensure the health, safety, and performance of all spacecraft under Optus control and implement all command and control activities associated with managing the spacecraft on-orbit. - Operate and maintain all ground-based telemetry, tracking, and command hardware and systems required for real-time monitoring and control of spacecraft. - Perform routine spacecraft and ground TTC control activities, initiate and perform corrective actions in response to spacecraft anomalies, contingencies, and emergencies, as well as ground equipment and system failures. - Work as an integral member of a small operations team of two to four individuals under the direction and supervision of the Satellite Control Shift Leader. - Gain expert operational knowledge and professional skills to Optus Satellite Control Certification standard, and with ongoing continuity and re-familiarisation training. - Actively participate in further training in the theory and operation of new and evolving TTC ground systems, spacecraft bus and payload types. Why you are our next Associate Satellite Controller - Ability to work on a 24/7 shift roster - onsite only. - Tertiary qualification in a relevant engineering field, such as Associate/Advanced Diploma or equivalent in Electrical / Electronic / Telecommunications / Aerospace, or related field. - Interest and commitment to completing the Optus Satellite Controller Certification (2 years). - Experience in Telecommunications, Satellite Communications, Aerospace sectors, or Defence Capabilities. - Ability to comprehend and work with complex satellite-based systems, ground-based TTC systems, Satellite Communication Technologies, Antenna systems, RF, Baseband, SCADA, and Real-time Computer systems. - Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to move easily between practical and analytic domains. - Experience working within a complex real-time environment and with system-level fault diagnosis and repair.
