The College is excited to announce that we have a new fulltime permanent opportunity available for an experienced Finance Manager.The primary role of the Finance Manager is to support the CFO in ensuring the smooth financial operation of the College, through the effective administration of the financial accounts of the College, and the supervision and development of the Finance Team. The Finance Manager will be the second in command to the CFO and will deputise for the CFO during periods of absence.The role is responsible for ensuring the accounting function contributes to responsible short-and long-term financial management and accountability within the Colleges mission and risk tolerance. It focuses on reconciling financial data, preparing internal and external reports, and fulfilling budgeting requirements. Additionally, the role provides accurate financial information and support to the College Executive, budget holders, and operational staff.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESBelow is a high-level overview of duties and responsibilities. A detailed position description will be emailed to any interested candidates:Supervise the schools financial position on a day-to-day basis in all its aspects, including cash flow, payroll, investments, creditors, and debtors, and provide regular updates to the CFO.Work with the CFO and Principal to create and manage annual budgets that align with the Colleges goals and financial situation.Prepare the monthly financial statements, including the Income Statement and Balance Sheet, Budget vs Actuals, and Cash Flow, including the reconciliations and financial reports for the College Board.Assist in preparing long-range capital and operating cash projections as requested by the CFO and the Principal.Prepare the annual accounts for audit and adoption by the College Board.Review the monthly general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with statutory regulations.Review and verify BAS and FBT returns and reconciliations before lodgement.Accounts Reporting and SchedulingPrepare and report monthly financial accounts.Liaise with external auditors to prepare audit schedules for annual and interim audits.Assist the CFO with the annual Financial Questionnaire, benchmarking surveys, and other returns, reconciliations, and applications as required.Budgets and ReconciliationsAssist the CFO in developing, assisting and entering the annual budget.Ensuring monthly reconciliations are performed for cash banking, Debtors and Creditors.Reviewing and reporting on Actual to Budget results on a monthly or as required basis.In consultation with the CFO, oversee contracts and purchases while considering budgetary provisions, price, quality, and services.Suggest methods of improvement and cost minimisation opportunities.Advise the CFO on ongoing FBT and GST issues and implications.Maintain the Chart of Accounts in accordance with the Australian Government Education Departments Financial Questionnaire and relevant Accounting Standards.Advise on and monitor depreciation and capitalisation.Oversee the general ledger and other subsidiary ledger journals.Fixed AssetsEnsure that the Fixed Asset Register accurately processes all additions, changes in locations, write-offs from sales, loss or damage, and depreciation transactions.Review the Fixed Asset reconciliations regularly, ensuring all assets have been correctly recorded and treated in the general ledger, including capitalising any relevant work in progress.Compliance ReportingComply with the legal obligations of an educational organisation.Keep abreast of all relevant legislation (including the College Enterprise Agreement) governing salary, taxation, superannuation, benefits and conditions of employment and advise the CFO, as required.People ManagementEncouraging financial process efficiency and accuracy among all staff.Directing and overseeing the Finance Teams operations, including daily tasks and responsibilities, mentoring staff, and ensuring that appropriate training and professional development are provided.Credit ManagementReview, develop, and recommend policies and procedures to aid in the governance and collection of outstanding fees, and debtor management.Foster positive relationships between parents and the College in the process of controlling credit, collecting outstanding accounts, and granting of fees concessions.College TreasuryLiaise with Colleges account managers in relation to all banking matters that may arise.Manage the day-to-day operations of the Colleges funding facilities, including any loan draws and repayments as required.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCEExtensive experience in a similar management accounting role, preferably in a school or not-for-profit organisation.Relevant tertiary qualification/s and professional memberships i.e. Bachelor in Accounting / Commerce and CA/CPA required.
