The EmployerOur clients operate a family-owned progressive beef enterprise with a herd size of 8,000 to 9,000 head, primarily consisting of Santa Gertrudis crossed with Angus. The breeding segment includes 2,500 head, while the backgrounding segment manages 5,500 head. They oversee six holdings, all situated within 70 kilometres of each other, covering a total area of 31,450 hectares.The enterprise has implemented a rotational grazing system and utilises horses, well-trained working dogs, two-wheeled motorbikes, and, when necessary, aerial mustering assistance from helicopters. A strong emphasis is placed on low-stress stock handling to ensure the herd''s psychological well-being is maintained.Our clients'' ethos is Job Done Right; they commit the necessary resources to empower their team to perform tasks effectively and efficiently.The RoleThe role of Senior Stationhand involves carrying out a variety of duties related to cattle production. This position requires you to be actively involved in all aspects of cattle husbandry including mustering and moving cattle, utilising two-wheel motorbikes, horses, and potentially your own well-trained working dogs. A key emphasis is placed on low-stress stock handling to ensure the well-being of the animals.In addition to cattle movements, you will be actively involved in all aspects of yard work. This includes tasks such as drafting, processing, inducting steers, calf marking, weaning and supplement distribution.General property maintenance and improvements are essential responsibilities for the team, involving various types of machinery. You will also be required to perform repairs and maintenance on water systems, vehicles, equipment, and machinery, ensuring that everything is in optimal working condition for the tasks at hand.The OfferThe successful candidate will negotiate a competitive salary that includes a partly furnished two-bedroom home, beef provision, and paddock space for two workhorses.A five-day workweek offers a great work-life balance, although some weekend work will be required.The house is located on the main block, which spans 5,060 hectares.
