Youll deliver high quality and engaging stories about Australias closely-watched residential property markets, with a focus on housing trends, property prices, investment and development. Our readers have a strong interest and appetite for reporting on Australias real estate markets. The successful candidate will be part of the AFRs Property team and report to the Property Editor.Responsibilities:Report on breaking news across the residential property sector, both in the direct market and the publicly listed marketGenerate engaging stories for the AFR audience using data, case studies and expert talentDeliver clear analysis of movements in the broad residential markets across Australias capital cities and coastal/regional locationsWrite news, features, profiles and analysisCultivate contacts across the property and corporate sectorsAs required, contribute to other property coverage including the commercial sectorWork with and across the various sections of the Financial Review, including its magazines and live events.QualificationsWhat we would like to see:Previous experience in a major newsroom, preferably in business or property reportingStrong writing skills and the ability to deliver clear, lively news, feature stories and profiles while meeting deadlinesA thorough understanding of the main issues and drivers affecting the performance of property marketsKnowledge of how to access data and statistics which explain how property markets are performingA solid background in financial and economic matters, especially those affecting residential real estate, both listed and unlistedA wide base of contacts and a thorough knowledge of the main players in the industryAdditional InformationOur Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion:We''re committed to a safe, respectful and inclusive Nine.
