Lead Strategic Operations & Education for Future GenerationsWe are seeking a highly organised and dynamic leader to manage the day-to-day operation of the Great Barrier Reef Aquarium, the Australian Governments National Education Centre for the Great Barrier Reef, providing high level advice to the Reef Authoritys executive and direction to staff on its operations.The position is responsible for shaping and driving the strategic direction of the Aquarium, ensuring the provision of world-class guest experiences and educational opportunities for people of all ages and abilities, which raise awareness and encourage behavioural change that will help protect the Great Barrier Reef for future generations.The Aquarium has a proud history of sustainable business practices; exceptional living exhibition curation; supporting research and early career researchers; and contributing to knowledge and innovation that supports Reef protection. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and implementing business development and partnership strategies that maximise the Aquariums operational priorities.The Great Barrier Reef Aquarium is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. This position will lead Aquarium operations and operational staff during this phase, as well as contribute to and support the redevelopment project.Key ResponsibilitiesDuring the Aquarium redevelopment phase, actively participate as a member of the Aquarium Stewardship Committee: lead stakeholder engagement and communications; ensuring timely reporting and briefing into government; coordination of funding process; and provide specialist advice on the Aquariums operational requirements to inform the redevelopment.Ensure the Great Barrier Reef Aquarium is recognised locally, regionally, nationally and internationally as a high-standard Edutourism operation through the development and implementation of business plans, strategies and provide exceptional customer service systems and guest experiences.Coordinate and assume responsibility for complex or sensitive projects or work programs that have strategic, political and/or operational significance.Accountable for developing, coaching and mentoring employees, performance management, conflict resolution, and identification of training needs.Promote and manage relationships and key strategic alliances with internal and external stakeholders, community groups, business sponsors and service providers.Provide strategic specialist/technical/professional advice on facility operations, including business/partnership opportunity feasibility.The PersonYou are a dynamic, energetic and values based professional, bringing a proven track record of senior leadership in a customer experience or service-based environment.You are a leader who has the demonstrated ability to motivate teams and individuals to achieve agreed business outcomes.You will contribute to the strategic planning of agency wide objectives.
