Job Description

The ideal candidate will be working closely with the General Manager Strategy and Finance. The primary objective of the Finance Manager is to ensure highly effective financial controls and drive effective planning and reporting processes to enable decision-making. The role will also be responsible for leading a small finance team. As part of the operations management team, the role will be required to have a proactive approach, problem-solving skills, and ability to help drive continuous improvement. You are comfortable handling large amounts of data, acting as a business partner, decision maker, and providing regular financial reporting.ResponsibilitiesProvide day-to-day management, supervision, and direction for all positions within the Finance Team, developing and maintaining a high-performance team environment.Prepare and present monthly Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow reports for the Board and Management, and provide monthly variance analysis for board report commentary.Supervise the reconciliation of all balance sheet ledgers and drive continuous improvement in the reporting and analysis of financial results.Prepare Board reports in collaboration with General and Operations Managers to support strategic decision-making.In collaboration with the General Manager, Strategy and Finance, lead the budget and forecasting processes, ensuring accurate forecasting of future cash requirements, and manage daily, weekly, and monthly cash management and forecasting reports.Update and maintain finance processes for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and End-of-Month accounting/reporting, while monitoring and enhancing internal controls.Identify performance improvement opportunities and collaborate with the General Managers to model initiative outcomes.Support strategic project implementation, including costing and pricing alternatives to achieve desired outcomes, and contribute to monthly Operations Manager meetings.Serve as a trusted advisor to the leadership team.Process payroll in conjunction with outsourced bureau.Ensure timely and accurate reporting and acquittal of funds for Government Funded Programs, and coordinate the annual external audit, managing information requests and queries from auditors.Ensure all taxation and statutory reporting and payment requirements are met promptly.Collaborate with Operations Managers for debtor management and reporting and liaise with external service providers as necessary.Manage credit card processes and assist with banking initiatives.Participate in and lead ad-hoc projects as needed.Perform other tasks as directed by the General Manager of Strategy and Finance, demonstrating the ability to meet deadlines effectively.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCECA or CPA qualificationPrevious experience supervising and leading finance and accounting staff.A proven track record in the preparation of month-end management and financial accounting reports, including input into the Board reporting process.A proven track record in leading budgeting and forecasting activities.Proven experience in managing the payroll of a small to medium sized businessExperience in financial data analysis, including working with department managers and contributing to their decision-making process.Experience with different computer-based accounting and customer relationship management systems.A high degree of problem-solving capability including system-based issues.A healthy degree of skepticism and curiosity when interpreting data.Advanced skills with Microsoft Office applications, in particular Excel.Ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.Advanced verbal and written communications skills.Proactive and the ability to lead projects across the organisation.Strong attention to detail.Experience in a fast-paced environment.Be able to prioritise and adapt to change.Leadership, mentoring skills and a team focus.Seniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeContractJob functionAccounting/Auditing and FinanceIndustriesFinancial Services, Government Relations Services, and Government Administration #J-18808-Ljbffr
