Drawing on cultural and community knowledge, the Family Support Worker will assist in developing family support plans to inform interventions and services that foster nurturing environments and build family capacity. The focus will be on keeping children safe and families together through a child-centered, strength-based, trauma-informed, and culturally affirming approach.This position is identified for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is intended to constitute a special measure under section 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), and section 57 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1996 (NT).What You Need to SucceedKnowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of current issues faced by families in relation to FDV.Demonstrated experience in similar field relating to children and families with an understanding of impacts of trauma, attachment, and child development.Knowledge of the social determinants of health (environment, economic and social inequalities) that have a profound impact on the health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.Demonstrated ability to use culturally sensitive ways to ensure improved client access to DDHS and/or other health services.Proven teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to constructively negotiate outcomes with a diverse range of people and service providers.High level of personal resilience and flexibility with the ability to deal with challenging situations.Demonstrated computer skills, especially in the use of client information systems or similar.Want to talk this job through some more?
