Manager - Community Safety & Rural Lands ServicesLocation: RomaCompensation: Fortnightly payment. We support our individual communities to grow while building one strong connected region that partners with people, business and industry to thrive.Purpose:As the Manager Community Safety & Rural Lands Services for Maranoa Regional Council, you will be a motivated leader responsible for leading a diverse team of professionals to ensure regulatory compliance with both council and state legislation, policy, and procedures, whilst promoting a positive team culture that fosters collaboration, accountability, community safety, and customer service excellence.Areas of focus:Unsightly and overgrown allotmentsProvision of a rapid response service to community safety situations such as dog attacks and wandering animals both during and after business hoursProactive Patrols of town areas across the regionOperation and maintenance of Councils Regional Animal Pound FacilityRural Land Management including stock routes, biosecurity, and water facilitiesReporting to the Director Regional Development, Environment & Planning, the Manager provides senior management-level direction and oversight for all activities and operations of the Regulatory and Rural Lands Services Department as well as contributing to the overall success of Maranoa Regional Council as part of the senior management team providing input into operational, financial, and strategic planning and initiatives.Key Responsibilities:LeadershipInvestigations and Compliance ActivitiesAnimal ManagementRural Lands ManagementCustomer Service & CommunityHuman Resource ManagementCorporate Planning and ReportingQualifications and Licences to be successful, you''ll need:Current C (Car) Class Driver LicenceAbility to undergo training to be appointed as a Local Government Worker and Authorised PersonTertiary qualifications in the discipline of environmental health, Sciences, Land Management, Business (or other related field of study); or attained through previous appointment, service and/or study, an equivalent level of expertise and experience to lead and manage the department and undertake the range of duties required.Desirable Qualifications and Licences:Experience in Local Government Regulatory Services and/or an equivalent position in a similar sized organisation would be highly regarded.Certificate IV in Government (Statutory Compliance)Required Skills and Experience:Proven ability to manage, lead, motivate and support a diverse workforce which is professional, ethical, and inclusive and which enables individuals to achieve operational and strategic outcomes within a safe and constructive workplace.Highly developed oral communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels and from all backgrounds, and the ability to act tactfully in sensitive situations.Ability to conduct complex inspections and investigations to produce effective outcomes within the boundaries of the applicable legislation, policies, and procedures.Excellent written and administrative skills with high attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to prepare clear and concise reports, providing well considered and informed recommendations.Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and organise teams working in a fast-paced high workload environment to achieve goals and meet deadlines, including dealing with competing demands and managing multiple projects and tasks.Proficient user of computers and systems and the ability to acquire competent computer skills in Councils corporate computer systems including Authority, Record Manager, and the Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to Maranoa Regional Councils values and team goals.Previous experience working in local government or similar environment will be highly regarded.Details and Benefits:Location: Roma, QldFull-time position - ContractSuperannuation & Annual Leave Loading5 weeks annual leave15 days personal leaveMonthly Rostered Days Off (RDOs)Employee Assistance Program & Social ClubSalary sacrifice facilities (rural remote rent assistance, novated leasing, additional super contributions)Download and review the Position Description.Provide a Cover Letter addressing the required skills and experience outlined in the Position Description, demonstrating your relevant experience, abilities, and personal qualities.Please follow the instructions carefully to ensure your application is considered.Additional Information:Maranoa Regional Council is an equal opportunity employer, and we encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
