As the crucial link between the Project Managers and our crew, you will assist the Manager in running the site, planning ahead, and ensuring the crew remains safe and on track to meet targets and deadlines.Your role will involve managing work sites, ensuring the crew completes their daily and weekly tasks. You will lead by example, demonstrating professional standards on-site, motivating and supporting the team, and providing clear instructions.Working closely with the Project Manager, you will coordinate work and materials, reporting back on progress and safety concerns. You will also develop your knowledge of site management, including client meetings and administrative tasks.You will enjoy working outdoors and getting your hands dirty: preparing soil, laying jute, and planting will be key tasks during construction. Additionally, you will maintain remnant native bushland, constructed wetlands, and newly built native landscapes across Melbourne and Geelong. With a motivating attitude, you will support your crew members and project managers to successfully construct and maintain our WSUD wetland and revegetation projects.Outdoor work often involves exposure to extreme weather conditions, both in winter and summer. It is essential that you can thrive in occasionally challenging environments. Any notifiable injuries or incidents must be reported to Victorian Worksafe via our organisation.Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesSupervise and ensure crew members perform work tasks safely and professionally.Lead and guide crew members by example, teaching and explaining work tasks, practices, and processes clearly through practical demonstrations on-site.Support the Project Manager in meetings and administrative tasks.Report progress and safety concerns to the Project Manager.Plan ahead to ensure smooth workflow, preventing delays.Collaborate effectively in a team environment, asking for clarification when needed.Follow instructions from Project Managers and Management regarding task safety, procedures, machinery use, maintenance, and pre-start checks.Ensure all tasks are completed safely and to a professional standard.Maintain equipment and vehicles in safe working order, ensuring timely servicing and repairs.Behave to the professional standards set by your leaders, reflecting Balance Enviro''s culture to all stakeholders.Follow SWMS, policies, and procedures, including Covid-safe actions, uniform and PPE compliance, and incident reporting.Participate actively in, and lead, fortnightly toolbox meetings.Regularly provide suggestions for improvement.Selection CriteriaTo succeed in this role, you will need the following qualities and qualifications:Required:Minimum 2 years'' experience managing crews, ideally in landscape or construction projects.Knowledge and experience working with native plants.A genuine interest in native flora, fauna, and landscapes.Commitment to a safe work environment and a willingness to improve safety measures.Strong organisational skills and goal-oriented work ethic.Basic computer and written communication skills.Ability to motivate both your crew and yourself.Clear, concise, and patient communication skills for instruction.Willingness to work outdoors year-round.Practical manual labour experience.A valid driver''s licence and ideally your own vehicle.Construction White Card.Willingness to learn and adapt.Respectful and professional behaviour, with an appreciation for individual differences.Commitment to diversity and inclusion.Personal dedication to our organisation, clients, and work.Preferred:Demonstrated experience in environmental tasks such as revegetation, planting, hand weeding, brush cutting, landscaping, and chainsaw work.Herbicide application, including backpack and targeted weed control.Ability to identify indigenous and exotic flora species.Industry-related licences and certifications (e.g., ChemCert/ACUP, Chainsaw operation).Manual driver''s licence.No pre-existing injuries likely to be aggravated by physical work.Reporting to: Senior Project ManagerHow to apply:If you believe you are the perfect fit for our company and this role, tell us why in a few words!
