The Team Leader supports the Manager Therapeutic Services in managing the Aboriginal Access Point (AAP). The AAP is a new program where staff walk alongside Aboriginal Community members and families impacted by family violence to support prevention, early intervention, healing, connection and receiving the right services to meet their needs as well as strengthening community connection and education. The model is unique and promotes a strengths-based approach to working with Aboriginal people and families with a focus on prevention, early intervention and culture and community connection as protective and healing factors.This is an exciting new initiative which will enhance the integrated family violence service system in the Mildura area and support self-determination and agency of Aboriginal families to:Navigate the family violence service system in ways that are culturally safe and responsiveHave choice and agency in accessing servicesAccess culturally safe information, planning, referral and exit pathwaysThe Team Leader is responsible for:Managing the day-to-day operations of the Aboriginal Access Point including supervising a small team.Implementing the practice and community engagement and education model of the Aboriginal Access Point Program which promotes, facilitates and supports holistic family work and focuses on healing and connection for Mob.The development of a responsive and efficient framework for operations and service delivery that meets the requirements of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community as identified in the MDAS Strategic Plan and the AAP call for submission.Ensuring the individual programs are operating within the MDAS procedural framework.Managing the programs budget in collaboration with the Program Manager.Any other duties as requested by management within your role.Why Join MDAS?Competitive and market-based salary with 17.5% leave loading.Salary packaging benefits.Additional 10 Health & Wellbeing Days annually.Early finishes every Friday at 4:00pm.Access to ongoing professional development and cultural safety training.Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for personal and work-related support.Key Selection Criteria:Sound knowledge of family violence legislation and knowledge of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 and MARAM and broader service system.Able to drive practice development, trauma informed practice and/or healing practice, and empower staff and Community members to make positive choices to keep themselves and their families safe.Well-developed organisational and administrative skills including ability to manage conflicting priorities and caseloads without affecting quality of service delivery and experience in the management and preparation of budgets.Experience in working within Aboriginal Communities along with the ability to lead, motivate, mentor, train and manage a team and to adapt to changing environments and requirements including an ability to lead others through the process of change.Sound knowledge of community development and education approaches with a good understanding of Community context in Mildura and surrounds and demonstrates a proactive and innovative approach to community connections and building.Highly developed written and oral communication skills and relationship management skills including mediation, conflict resolution skills, negotiation skills and including ability to represent MDAS in a range of external forums with a diverse range of stakeholders.Take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services.Qualification/s:Diploma of Community Services or equivalent, or working towards, or willing to obtain and at least 5 years experience in case management in community services, health or a related sector working with women, men or children and young people.Other Screening Requirements:A current Drivers License that allows you to drive in Australia.A current Employee Working with Children Check card.A current National Police Check.Applications for this position close Tuesday 15th of April 2025.Applications must be accompanied by a cover letter addressing the key selection criteria and a resume.All applications must be submitted by the due date.
