You will assist in the provision of an effective and efficient Central Specimen Reception service in the Cairns Laboratory and to ensure that all laboratory practices comply with Pathology Queensland requirements. Assist in the pre-analytical sample preparation, data entry and the efficient and effective referral of samples to other laboratories within Pathology Queensland.What you''ll doPerform general laboratory duties including the receipt of specimens and the registration of requests into the laboratory information system.Preparation of specimens for local testing, and the packaging and dispatches of samples to referral laboratories.Maintenance of a safe working environment by the cleaning of work benches, equipment and work sinks within the laboratory.Performance of other non-technical tasks e.g. Participate in Document Control in Quality Information System (QIS), equipment maintenance, stock inventory control.About youWe are searching for someone who:Has working knowledge of or demonstrated ability to quickly learn all aspects of pre-analytical specimen processing.Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately with minimal local supervision.Demonstrated data entry skills and in the use of Microsoft Office applications, i.e. Word and Excel.Ability to effectively use or quickly acquire the ability to use the laboratory information system (Auslab).Why work with us?Work alongside passionate professionals in a supportive and inclusive environment that values people and prioritises employee success and wellbeing.
