Permanent Full TimeLocation: MorwellSalary: $94,412.76 - $102,394.76 plus 11.5% superannuationAn excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join the Safe Communities team in Morwell on a full-time ongoing basis.About The RoleAs Environmental Health Officer, you will be responsible for protecting our community''s health and well-being through monitoring, educating and achieving compliance with public health standards.Key responsibilities include:Providing an effective Environmental Health Program to promote and maintain a high standard of health and well-being within the municipality.Administering all statutory obligations of Latrobe City Council pursuant to the Local Government Act 2020, Environment Protection Act 2017, Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008, Food Act 1984, Tobacco Act 1987, Council by-laws and other relevant legislation.Providing a high level of customer service to residents and the general public.Contributing to the achievement of the goals and objectives of the Councils Corporate Plan.About YouYou will have experience in the environmental and public health areas including food safety, infectious diseases, public health and wellbeing registerable premises, and have ability to interpret, apply and communicate Acts, Regulations and Local Laws. You must have well-developed communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.You will also require:A Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) or similar qualification acceptable and recognised by the Australian Institute of Environmental Health and/or Environmental Health Practitioners of Australia.Eligibility to be a member of the Australian Institute of Environmental Health and/or Environmental Health Practitioners of Australia.Relevant experience in food safety.Relevant experience in the areas of prescribed accommodation, hair/skin/beauty operations, as well as nuisance investigation.Demonstrated understanding of principles of HACCP.Competent in approval of food safety plans.Demonstrated knowledge of the Food Act 1984, Public Health & Wellbeing Act 2008, Tobacco Act 1987 and the Environment Protection Act 2017.Sound understanding of food safety auditing processes/procedures.Sound understanding of the Open Office Health Manager System.The successful applicant is required to apply for and satisfactorily obtain a National Police Check and Working with Childrens Check.Go Further at Latrobe City CouncilA career with us begins with a desire to empower and make positive change within our Latrobe City Community.
