This position is offered on a full time, continuing basis and is based at the JCU Townsville Bebegu Yumba Campus in Douglas.36.25 hours per weekBased at our Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus$74,401.52 - $84,388.38 per year plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefitsHow youll make a differenceWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory and Technical Support Officer to join our close-knit team of animal technicians. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance in the daily operations of our Bioresources Facilities. This includes small animal husbandry and breeding, ensuring their health and welfare are optimized by maintaining holding facility cleanliness and adhering to strict quarantine measures. This role is essential to ensuring the smooth functioning of our research programs and maintaining the highest standards of animal care.What youll bringHighly regarded, but not essential, proven experience managing mouse breeding colonies, informed judgement and problem-solving skills to evaluate shifting priorities, and decisions regarding animal welfare, ensuring the correct course of action is taken.Well-developed written and oral communication skills including interpersonal skills, to deliver customer-centric service with positive outcomes.General knowledge of research and animal ethics projects, timelines and standard operating procedures, including the Code of Practice for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes.WHY JCU?JCU offers a dynamic and culturally diverse workplace where your ideas are valued, your professional growth is supported, and your work-life balance is respected.
