The Maintenance Manager (Operations & Production) is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the full production and maintenance operations for a global plastics component manufacturer. This includes overseeing production, maintenance, plant facilities, and safety compliance.As a small-site operation, this role requires a practical, on-the-floor leader. Ideally suited for a trade-qualified professional (Electrical license preferred) or someone with an engineering background, this role demands a leader with strong practical experience in injection moulding, cross-trade technical expertise, and the ability to lead by example on the shop floor to support troubleshooting and plant reliability. The successful candidate will combine real-time, on-the-floor problem-solving with the ability to manage operations strategically and drive long-term performance improvements.This person will act as the operational owner of the plant, ensuring all aspects of production and maintenance run efficiently, safely, and in alignment with business goals. The role oversees facility infrastructure, energy efficiency, environmental compliance, and safety.The role directly manages Production Supervisors (3 shifts), Maintenance Technicians, working in a 24/5 operation with approximately 1215 employees per shift.ResponsibilitiesLead all aspects of Product Assembly and injection moulding production, ensuring consistent output, efficiency, and quality.Oversee daily production schedules, workforce allocation, and shift management across three shifts.Monitor and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) to maximise production performance.Drive Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Continuous Improvement initiatives to reduce waste and optimise resources.Work closely with Supply Chain, Quality Control, and Sales teams to align production with business objectives.Ensure product quality compliance, working closely with QC to resolve defects and implement corrective actions.Standard reporting requirements as per corporate to track performance, identify gaps, and drive improvements.Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance for all machines, tooling, and production equipment.Hands-on troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to prevent downtime.Manage maintenance planning and execution, ensuring maximum equipment uptime.Oversee tooling and die maintenance, ensuring minimal downtime during production transitions.Lead maintenance fitters and technical staff, ensuring efficient repairs and proactive asset management.Develop and manage a spare parts inventory, ensuring critical components are always available.Act as the site owner responsible for factory maintenance, utilities, waste management, security, and overall facility upkeep, ensuring operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.Oversee compressed air systems, cooling systems, HVAC, electrical, and water management.Ensure all factory infrastructure is maintained, including lighting, electrical systems, and general upkeep.Manage waste disposal, cleaning services, and environmental compliance.Ensure fire safety, security, and emergency preparedness across the entire site.Implement cost-saving initiatives for energy consumption and sustainability improvements.Oversee and develop Production Supervisors, Maintenance Technicians, and Tooling teams, ensuring accountability, skill development, and succession planning.Drive a high-performance culture that aligns with operational excellence.Manage approximately 12-15 employees per shift, across three shifts, fostering a strong and engaged workforce.Lead cross-training programs, ensuring employees are multi-skilled across production and maintenance functions.QualificationsTrade Qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Electrical License preferred).Experience in production and maintenance leadership in a manufacturing environment.Strong hands-on expertise in troubleshooting injection moulding machines, robotics, and automation systems.Knowledge of PLC programming, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.Experience leading preventive maintenance programs and reliability improvements.Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and OEE optimisation.Leadership experience managing production and maintenance teams.Comprehensive WHS knowledge and site safety leadership experience.Experience in injection moulding lines and aerosol filling processes.Strong background in Maintenances, factory infrastructure management and energy efficiency programs.Experience in plant upgrades, workflow solutions, new tooling and equipment installations.Expertise in ISO9001, HACCP, and hazardous material handling.Seniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionManagement, Manufacturing, and ProductionIndustriesPackaging and Containers Manufacturing, Plastics Manufacturing, and Manufacturing #J-18808-Ljbffr
