We are a long-term, multi-asset institutional investor, helping over 3.4m members to achieve their best financial position in retirement.Our Mid Risk portfolio incorporates Real Assets (unlisted equity infrastructure and real estate investments), Private Credit and a Liquid sleeve of listed real assets stocks and high-yield credit.The Real Assets team currently manages over $55 billion of unlisted Infrastructure and Property investments globally and is expected to grow significantly.Your New RoleAs an Investment Director within the Real Assets team, you will:Provide strategic oversight of the delivery of Real Asset development activities across the Australian portfolio, both new transactions and investment management activities for investments and operating platforms located in Australia;Provide key technical, management and commercial negotiation support for transacting new development and investment opportunities and if successful, overseeing the Fund''s interests through the development phase;Support other members of the Australian Real Assets team in their consideration of new investment opportunities that include a potential development component;Assist in the development of framework(s) and other internal capabilities to maximise the efficiency of resources in implementing the Real Assets strategy on a global basis;Manage staff effectively and build positive relationships with management teams, partners and service providers, that help deliver excellent outcomes.This is a permanent role based in either Melbourne or Sydney.Key Responsibilities include:Working closely with senior transaction team members as part of new transaction activity;Leading the consideration and risk assessment of new development opportunities from a Fund''s investor perspective;Actively engaging in the negotiation of key transaction and joint venture documentation;Liaising and co-ordinating with consortia partner(s) as a member of the transaction team;Leading the successful onboarding of new development opportunities post-acquisition;Maintaining strategic oversight of the Australian development activities via our managers, investee companies or operating platforms;Ensuring AustralianSuper performs its obligations under all development agreement(s);Developing frameworks and operational capability that will direct the team''s limited resources to focus on opportunities globally that are consistent with fundamentals of the Real Assets strategy;Leveraging external networks to access opportunities and resource the delivery of projects.What You''ll NeedExtensive real estate sector experience in development management and/or senior project management roles (from the client side) on major projects ($100M+);Deep real estate & infrastructure development management experience, operating strategically at an investor-level;Real estate and infrastructure investment experience from a funds management or asset owner perspective;Understanding and experience in the entire development process from inception to completion of construction and transition to operations, the many nuances, stakeholders, market dynamics, risks and opportunities that potentially impact each stage;Sound knowledge of industrial, commercial, residential and mixed-use developments;Experience liaising with government bodies;Experience in Development Management and Investment Management Agreements and their administration;Strong commercial acumen and transaction experience;Strong contract interpretation and negotiation skills;Experience in project team coordination and performance management;Experience in preparation of Board reports, investment proposals, business cases and / or other reports typical for internal reporting and to secure approvals;Tertiary qualifications in property, finance or a related discipline;MBA or post-graduate qualification in property, finance or a related discipline desirable.Life at AustralianSuperAustralianSuper is committed to colleague development, and we support our people with ongoing learning, coaching and training, as well as career opportunities across our expanding global organisation.
