Curtin University is seeking an exceptional General Manager to join our Faculty of Health Sciences and play a critical role in shaping the future of health sciences education and research.About the RoleThe General Manager will provide executive leadership and oversight of the operational business of the Faculty, ensuring that strategic decisions support and advance the Facultys teaching, learning, research, and engagement priorities. You will work closely with the Pro Vice-Chancellor to shape the direction of the Faculty and will be responsible for leading the team in achieving Faculty and University objectives. Your leadership will be instrumental in cultivating a culture of innovation, inclusivity and continuous improvement.Key Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership: Partner with senior leadership to develop and implement long-term business plans and budgets aligned with Faculty and University goals. Anticipate and address emerging internal and external challenges to optimise Faculty performance. Continuously refine governance protocols to ensure robust decision-making and operational excellence.Operational Oversight: Lead the development and execution of operational strategies and practices that meet the Facultys objectives. Ensure optimal resource management and alignment with strategic priorities while collaborating with Facilities and Development to enhance space utilization and project delivery.Executive Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a key liaison with senior internal stakeholders (Finance, Student Services, Digital & Technology Solutions) and external partners, including accreditation bodies and industry advisory groups, ensuring seamless delivery of services and strategic alignment with University goals.People Leadership: Lead a high-performance, results-driven team while fostering a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and job satisfaction. Champion the development of staff, promoting continuous professional growth and a commitment to the University''s core values. Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and effective change management processes.Financial Stewardship & Risk Management: Oversee the Facultys financial sustainability, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and in line with strategic goals. Monitor and mitigate financial and operational risks, ensuring compliance with University policies and regulatory requirements.Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Drive a culture of quality assurance and continuous improvement, implementing best practices and fostering innovative approaches to decision-making and service delivery across the Faculty.Key Selection Criteria:Postgraduate Qualifications in a relevant discipline, with significant senior management experience overseeing large-scale operations, financial resources, and human capital in complex environments.Proven leadership experience in a large, multi-stakeholder organisation, demonstrating a track record of strategic planning, resource management, and delivering organisational outcomes.Expertise in leading transformative organisational change and driving sustainable business improvements.Exceptional people leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, develop, and lead high-performing teams across multiple functions.Advanced communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with a demonstrated ability to build strong, effective relationships at all levels, internally and externally.Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, exercising sound judgement in high-stakes situations.Desirable: In-depth knowledge of the tertiary education sector, particularly in health sciences, is highly advantageous.Role Requirements:As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
